Training Package Introduction

What?

This training package, Introduction to Disability-Inclusive Food Security in Humanitarian Action, has been designed to support trainers in facilitating learning, reflection, and discussion on disability inclusion within the humanitarian Food Security sector.

The package consists of 8 modules with one additional preparatory module and provides facilitators with PowerPoint presentations, facilitator guidelines, and interactive group work activities, allowing for flexible adaptation to different humanitarian and cultural contexts.

It aims to:

  • Deepen understanding of disability-inclusive Food Security in humanitarian action in line with the IASC Guidelines on Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Humanitarian Action.
  • Strengthen capacities in disability-inclusive Food Security programming and coordination across all phases of the humanitarian project and program cycle.
  • Increase awareness of the barriers faced by persons with different disabilities accessing Food Security services.
  • Introduce the Must-Do Actions and the Twin-Track Approach to disability-inclusion in Food Security.
  • Enhance knowledge of accessibility, universal design, and reasonable accommodation.
  • Deepen understanding of disability-inclusive Cash and Voucher Assistance.

The content is intended for humanitarian staff with programming, coordination, and technical roles, including staff from international organizations, NGOs, and Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) working in the Food Security sector.

Structure:

The training package consists of 8 modules. Modules 1–7 are adapted from the DRG Learning Package on Inclusive Humanitarian Action, while Module 8 focuses on Disability-Inclusive Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA). The additional preparatory Orientation Module introduces humanitarian Food Security and is recommended for participants new to Food Security programming. Depending on the training audience’s needs and the time available, you are advised to select the most relevant modules.
