We are looking for an intern to work on the Phase 3 – Leave no one behind! project. The position is within the Handicap International e.V. team in our Berlin office.

Objectives of the position

The intern will support the HI’s Policy & Development Lead on inclusive humanitarian action, governance and protection. If required, the intern will also work alongside other HI staff from Phase 3-Leave No-one behind! Project in Berlin and support the team with day-to-day office tasks.

Areas of responsibility

  • Support the Policy & Development Lead in Inclusice Humanitatiran Action in the implementation of the ‘Phase 3-Leave no one behind!’ project, including logistical and administrative tasks
  • Supporting project-related public relations and dissemination work, including writing texts for the HI website and social media
  • Support in the preparation of panel discussions and presentations from the inclusive humanitarian action point of view
  • Research activities on topics of inclusive humanitarian action and other project-relevant areas as required.
  • Compiling information and summarising relevant texts
  • Supporting the activities of the Policy & Development Lead in her role as Co-Chair of the global Disability Reference Group on Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Humanitarian Action, such as research and information management tasks related to the new Disability Reference Group website and the establishment of the Community of Practice for Disability Inclusive Humanitarian Coordination.

What you bring:

  • An interest in inclusion, humanitarian action and disability rights. Possibly
    ongoing studies, preferably in law, political, humanities or social sciences.
  • Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Very good language skills in German and English
  • Independent, structured way of working and reliable approach
  • Open-minded & good social skills
  • Very good ability to maintain an overview, set priorities and communicate them
  • Ability to achieve results both as part of a team and independently
