For the fifth time, the Phase 3 – Leave no one behind! project supports the organisation of the Humanitarian Congress Berlin. This year’s Congress with the title ‘Feminist Humanitarian Action: From Affirmation to Transformation’ will be held from October 11 – 13, 2022.

The Phase 3 – Leave no one behind! project is one of the cooperation partners of this years’s Humanitarian Congress Berlin hosted by Médecins du Monde / Doctors of the World, Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors without Borders, the Berlin Chamber of Physicians and the German Red Cross. As in previous years, we have supported the inclusion and accessibility measures of the online congress. The event will have live captions in English, financially supported by our project.

For more than 20 years, the Humanitarian Congress Berlin has been debating, analysing, evaluating and developing the theory and practice of humanitarian action. It brings together leading experts from medical and humanitarian organisations, governments, and the media, as well as young professionals interested in humanitarian work.

This year the congress will focus on a feminist approach in humanitarian action as it is essential that feminist perspectives are used to analyse and challenge global inequalities and power structures. Among other the strategies and best practices for sexual and reproductive health and rights in crisis preparedness and response will be disussed. The congress will also address the impact of humanitarian crises on LGBTQI+ persons, their marginalized (in)visibility in the humanitarian system and their limited access to health services.
