Information for refugees with disabilities and their families
Many refugees with disabilities and their relatives face a major challenge when they arrive in Germany: How do they get support and help? They have many questions about the support system in Germany. They also want to know what rights they have to receive support and assistance. However, they often cannot find any relevant information in their own language.
That is why there are now brochures with information in nine languages covering the following topics:
- The first steps after arrival in Germany
- The support system for people with disabilities
- Health, rehabilitation and care
- The support system for family members of children with disabilities
- Social participation and language courses
- Applying for and getting benefits
In addition to these six subject areas and the associated brochures, there is also information on self-advocacy and self-help. In the FAQs section, we have summarised the most important questions and answers regarding assistance services.
Furthermore, there are two explanatory videos on the topics:
- How can I have a disability recognised in Germany?
